CHICAGO AREA PARENTS: Pardon this brief business post, but this is important to make sure as many people know as possible. If youve got kids in the Chicago area who would like to start pipe band drumming (from scratch), Im teaching a beginners class on Monday evenings at 7pm starting October 6th. A continuing education class will be available for those with any experience at 8pm. These will be the first such classes Ive personally instructed locally since 2001-03, and Im excited to be able to finally add them to my schedule! The goal is to create a youth drum corps to compete next summer as the Chicago Academy Junior Band (with a pipe section already well underway). For these classes, Im accepting students as young as 8 and up to 16, but can also arrange instruction for older students through our academy programming and partnership with the Chicago Scots Pipe Band. If your kids have the interest, now is the time to get them going so theyll be well prepared for college scholarships, world travel, and all the wonderful things music can bring to a childs life.
