CHIEF of staff to President Goodluck Jonathan, Brig. Jones Arogbofa, Rtd yesterday warned that if members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in the South West fail to stop the fight among themselves, they will continue to be shot out politically. The Chief of Staff who urged the people to support President Goodluck Jonathan and his transformation agenda, explained that his appointment was a testimony of the President’s resolve to redress the Marginalization of the zone. Speaking yesterday when he received members of the South West Network (SWN) a political pressure group in his office led by its Coordinator and Senate Deputy Chief Whip, Senator Hosea Agboola, he said “We should reciprocate this gesture by wining the forthcoming elections in Ekiti and Osun states and use this as a platform to improve the welfare and conditions of our people ” adding that with the calibre of the members of the group,a lot could be achieved for the PDP. Arogbofa who noted that the PDP lost out in the zone because the people of South West always fight for everything and lose everything, however urged politicians from the zone to shun disunity and divisive tendencies if they must regain their prime position in the polity. According to him, the inability of the leaders to close ranks and work together for the progress of their political party was responsible for the loss of relevance in the political set up. The Chief of Staff who said it was legitimate for everyone to struggle for position in any society,stressed that it has also become imperative for leaders to support whoever won the position for the overall interest of the people and the party. He said, “Our people always fight for everything and in the process we lose everything and that was why the PDP lost some states and today we are with nothing in the South West.” Speaking earlier, Senator Hosea Agboola explained that the visit was to congratulate him for his appointment and seek his support for efforts of the group in rejuvenating the PDP to regain its lost glory in the zone. According to him, the group had embarked on reconciliation and mobilization of the leaders towards building a formidable front to return to reckoning in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and politics of the zone, He reiterated that the party lost Ekiti and Osun through judicial manipulation by the APC and that the leaders were wiser now to ensure that such was not repeated adding that the ruling party in the zone has shown lack of performance at every level.” “Our people are wiser and have seen that the APC has no capacity to deliver the dividends of democracy” he said while assuring that the group has been set up to give a credible new face for the party in the zone. He pledged the support of the group for the transformation agenda of President Jonathan and called for more the implementation of the infrastructural projects in the zone
