CHILDREN AT RISK is seeking an enthusiastic, detail oriented and self-motivated team member who will drive research,policy,and program efforts of a nationally recognized, Texas based, non-profit organization. The Assistant Director will join a driven and dynamic team and will work closely with the Managing Director, Director of the Center for Parenting and Family Well-Being, leading academics, and program staff. The Assistant Director will be responsible for the successful expansion and coordination of all aspects of the Center for Parenting and Family Well-Being into North Texas. Key responsibilities include: •Build, manage, and drive a coalition of like-minded organizations focused on assessing how Dallas addresses child abuse prevention, parenting and parent education. •Assess the current network of services for children and families that support the development of safe stable and nurturing parent-child relationships, identify current gaps in support services and strategic evidenced based parenting curriculum may fill these gaps, with input and collaboration from academics and coalition partners. •Build and maintain relationships with nonprofits, government entities, academics, and other key stakeholders around child abuse prevention, parenting and family well-being •Research current policies and practices regarding parent education, child abuse intervention and prevention across the state. •Develop an outreach strategy to inform the community of the Center for Parenting and Family Well-Beings activities. •Coordinate several workshops and conferences to educate and engage local health providers, service providers, and decision makers. •Represent CHILDREN AT RISK, regularly in meetings, with public officials, community leaders, service providers, etc. About CHILDREN AT RISK CHILDREN AT RISK is an active research and advocacy group dedicated to improving the quality of life of Texas children through research, public policy analysis, community education, collaboration, and advocacy.The focus of CHILDREN AT RISK is to make childrens needs a priority and to ensure ample resources are available for children and their families to thrive.Our current focus is on ending child trafficking, strengthening public education, improving child health, and ensuring all parents have access to effective parent education. We are the leading source of accurate information on childrens issues and an advocate and catalyst for change concerning the needs of all children in Texas. Preferred Qualifications •Bachelors Degree is required, Relevant Masters Degree preferred such as MPH or MSW •Articulate, self-motivated person with interest in issues that affect children •Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal and presentation skills •Experience in a related public health/advocacy environment in Dallas also preferable •Strong critical thinking and analytical skills •Strong ability to prioritize multiple tasks and manage a collaborative project •A strong work ethic, a good sense of humor, an outgoing personality and a zeal for relationship building are all considered a real plus for this position •Ability to build a strong team and collaborative culture •A history of commitment to children, to positive change, and innovative public policy.
