CHILDRENS MUSEUM OF ACADIANA HAS A JOB OPENING FOR FACILITY AND MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR Summary: The Facility and Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for the general maintenance, building services, and safety issues. Additional duties include construction projects, assisting staff and serving as liaison between the Museum and outside facility related vendors. This is physically active and team-oriented role requiring walking, and standing for long periods of time, bending and lifting, and janitorial duties. Some weekend, night and holiday hours are required. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned to meet museum needs. • Facilitate and participate in building maintenance and repairs. • Understanding of preparation and procedures necessary to ensure the safety of those on the property as well as the property itself. • Assist in implementing security/emergency procedures for the museum. • Assist visitors/staff in case of emergency. • Facilitate repairs to exhibits on the museum floor. • Be effective, accessible and respectful of all staff. • Supervise maintenance staff in all aspects. • Ensure high standards of janitorial services. • Troubleshoot alarm and burglar system. • Facilitate day to day care of museum grounds. • Order cleaning supplies. • Fabricate and install special event and exhibit needs. • Act as Museum representative during catastrophes. • Raise and lower flags. Qualifications/Requirements: • Working knowledge of power and hand tools, electric repair, painting, and fabrication skills. • Working knowledge of safety, regulations as they apply to technical processes. • General knowledge of basic security procedures and fire prevention techniques. • Good written and verbal communication skills necessary. • Willingness to do whatever is necessary to get the task accomplished. • Comfortable working around children and large crowds. • Keep museum tools in working order.
