CHIPOLOPOLO NIGHTMARE: SHAMBOLIC TRAVEL PLANS DELAY ZAMBIAN BOYS IN NDOLA The organizational nightmare over shambolic travel arrangements is back to haunt Zambia again after the team’s departure for Praia Cape Verde in Wednesday’s Morocco 2015 Africa Cup qualifier. Honour Janza’s side is still stranded in Ndola after the initial departure schedule was delayed owing to payments issues with the owners of the charter. Zambia endured a similar nightmare last year ahead of the crucial World Cup qualifier against Ghana in Kumasi where the team lost 24 hours as government and FAZ sought to make desperate last minute arrangements. The team was expected to leave for Praia ahead of Wednesday’s 2015 Africa Cup Group F qualifier against Cape Verde at 06h0 on Monday but the chartered plane from South Africa never showed up. A source said Janza and his players were privately informed of a possible delay earlier on Sunday and were back in training in a right frame of mind on Monday morning at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola. The team is now expected to leave at 06h00 CAT on Tuesday, that is all I can say, an official said. The development means Zambia will now endure a nine hour flight from Ndola to Praia on the eve of the match. The trip will also include a fueling stop in Dakar before their final two-hour hop to Cape Verde. Monday’s development is a setback for Zambia who are hoping to redeem themselves from after Saturday’s scoreless home draw with Mozambique in the two sides opening Group F match in Ndola. Zambia are tied on one point with Mozambique, two points behind leaders Cape Verde who beat bottom placed Niger 3-1 on Saturday heading into Wednesday’s match-day-two of the qualifiers.
