CHITWAN, SEP 07 - Chitwan National Park (CNP) has sentenced four people convicted of poaching rhinos to 15 years in prison each. A single bench of CNP conservation officer Kamaljung Kunwar also fined Ram Sharan BK, Sher Bahadur Khati, Onath Niraula and Nima Lama Waiwa Tamang each with Rs 100,000. Likewise, the CNP handed down 14 years of imprisonment to Chhiring Paldan Lama of Humla on the same charge. Although the CNP delivered the verdict two month ago, the CNP authorities informed media persons of the verdict a week ago. Police said that BK is a notorious rhino poacher and was arrested on the same charge four years ago. He had then served five years of jail term and was fined Rs 50,000 on the charge of poaching rhinos. “BK is an infamous rhino poacher. He admitted to poaching nine rhinos so far,” Kunwar said. ekantipur/2014/09/07/national/four-sentenced-for-rhino-poaching/394688.html#.VA8BXOJzIPk.twitter
