CHOMA/KALOMO INITIATES FARMERS’ MENTORSHIP Choma/Kalomo DFA - TopicsExpress

CHOMA/KALOMO INITIATES FARMERS’ MENTORSHIP Choma/Kalomo DFA has initiated a programme meant to mentor small-scale farmers by established large-scale Farmers. The DFA Chairman, Mr. Graham Mulders, whose aspiration is to leave sustained legacy once his term of office comes to the end, has reviewed a mentorship concept for small-scale farmers which has been developed by the DFA executive committee. The whole idea is meant to try and bring small-scale farmers closer to large-scale farmers so as to narrow the gap and perception, thereby fostering unity between the two member categories. Although some people claim that small-scale farming is less efficient in output as compared to large-scale farming, the Chairman is of the view that, the fact that large-scale Farming has the advantages of being technically more advanced, able to reap economies of scale, mobilize funds and invest, and to react to evolving market demand, should not discourage committed small-scale farmers, who he believes will also grow someday.
