CHRIS BOOTH - Sculptor, Activist. Te Haa o Te Ao (The Breath of the World) is a proposed entranceway sculpture into Kerikeri, Waipapa and surrounding Bay of Islands, designed by sculptor and environmental warrior Chris Booth. Chris has conceptualised a sculpture that acts as a visual barometer of the impacts of climate change in our own back yard in New Zealand. The kinetic sculpture will be moderated and adjusted by local school children, based on their findings in local water samples. In order to realise the project, the team need to raise a total of NZ$200,000, a quarter of which has already been generously donated. All funds are to be allocated to the projects purchase of materials, construction costs and the transport of materials to complete the sculpture - a 10m tall supportive steel centrepiece with 55 locally sourced boulders. Donors putting forward over $1000 are able to purchase and dedicate a boulder. The aim of the sculpture is to raise awareness in locals and visitors about the most universal threat facing humanity - climate change. Te Runanga o Ngati Rehia, Transit NZ, FNDC, Oxford Trust, Rotary and Lions (Waipapa and Kerikeri), Probus, Vision Kerikeri, Aroha Island Charitable Trust, Living Waters, Kerikeri High School environmental group and numerous individuals have expressed their support for the project. https://youtube/watch?v=KlnZCmHNawk If you would like to donate to the Te Haa o Te Ao fundraising appeal please visit their Givealittle page: https://givealittle.co.nz/cause/TeHaaoTeAo Filmed + edited by Mark Russell for ZHIZHY, photos courtesy of Chris Booth chrisbooth.co.nz/
