CHRIST OUR SUBSTITTUE Christ’s birth was announced in September as “a good hope to men.”(Luke 2:14 – Aramaic) Part of that “good hope” was that Jesus Christ would be our substitute. The love of Christ constraineth us to live for him. Constraining in the Bible is to lovingly beg or ask over and over. Christ died IN BEHALF OF us. The love of Christ that we see in this godly act is a continuous plea for us to “live unto him.” 2 Corinthians 5:14-15 For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died FOR [in behalf of] all, then were all dead: And that he died FOR [in behalf of] all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them and rose again. The word translated "for" is the Greek word "huper". Huper, when used in the genitive case, means "in behalf of" or “as a substitute for.”
