CHRISTIAN SERVICE CENTER The St. Vincent de Paul Society meeting will be held on Tuesday. Sept. 3rd at 1pm in the CSC Conference Room. All members and anyone interested in the Society are urged to attend this first meeting of the Fall. Just a reminder that St. Vincent supports the Pantry by covering the operating expenses of our building which is a tremendous help to us. CROP WALK is only 3 weeks away! Please plan to walk or sponsor a walker if you can. The WALK will be held at 3 pm on Sunday, Sept. 22nd with registration at 2:30. Pledges made to CROP can be designated to go to Catholic Relief Services if you wish. Please contact Pat at CSC to get an envelope if you are going to walk or to make a pledge. THANK YOU for helping those in our community and in our larger world community by supporting this WALK. Our first Mobile Food Pantry went very smoothly and we served 81 families in about 45 minutes. We had expected more to come but we were able to offload the extra food items and use them at the CSC for our families. We thank all the volunteers who made the Pantry run so smoothly and also assisted the families with their bags. The Pantry brought many fresh items such as peppers, watermelons, peaches, apples, plums and potatoes along with crackers and juice. We feel very fortunate to be able to offer this service to the Niles area. We will be hosting again in October and December and then again next year. Pantry Picks: If you are considering how to help stock C.S.C., with the most needed food items here are suggestions: Any canned vegetables, canned tomato and chicken noodle soup, Mandarin oranges and personal hygiene items.
