CHRISTMAS: A time to... A lot of people have their own and special way of celebrating or recognizing Christmas... waiting to see what they get for Christmas, going to visit relatives, eating that special meal, even waiting on Christmas sales or bargains. Lets hope that people try and remember the true meaning in their hearts! Christmas is celebrated to remember the birth of Jesus Christ, who is known or believed by many as the Son of God! The name Christmas comes from the Mass of Christ (or Jesus). A Mass service ( which is sometimes called Communion or Eucharist) is where many people remember that Jesus died for us and then came back to life. The Christ-Mass service was the only one that was to take place after sunset ( and before sunrise the next day), so people had it at Midnight! So we get the name Christ-Mass, shortened to Christmas Christmas is now celebrated by people around the world, whether they are Christians or not. Its a time when family and friends come together and remember the good things they have. People, especially children, also like Christmas as its a time when you give and receive presents! Whether you celebrate Christmas, Kwanzaa, Hanukkah or any other Traditions, Customs or special festive way, lets try and remember, to be thankful for what we have!
