CHS began its Men of Iron/Men of Gold speaker series with Mr. Ruben Garcia, the founder and director of Annunciation House. Mr. Garcia shared how his desire to live out the gospel led friends and him to take a leap of faith and begin this important work of hospitality for the undocumented from the Americas. He shared the impact of the parable of the Good Samaritan on how he views his life. Mr. Garcia pointed out that four CHS seniors (Emilio Urias, Ricky Lozoya, Jose Cos and Hector Chaires) had helped Annunciation House with the flood of immigrants, mostly women and children, in the late spring and summer. When asked how CHS could help, Mr. Garcia noted the importance of becoming well educated about immigration and the Catholic teaching on this controversial subject. Were very grateful to Mr. Garcia for being a Man of Iron in our community.
