CHU Disc Golf Course to close on 12/31/2014 It is with a heavy heart that I make this announcement. The disc golf course at Colorado Heights University will permanently close at 5PM on December 31, 2014. There is no use pointing any fingers as to why the course is closing. There are simply too many folks trying to share the land on which the course resides. The campus has grown dramatically over the last three years, resulting in many more students, tenants, and guests than those present on the campus in the fall of 2011. The primary mission of the CHU campus is to change the lives of students through education, whether it is through the university itself, or through the many tenants who share the campus. Disc golf does not serve this mission directly. I want to personally thank all of the volunteers who helped get the course installed, the annual pass holders who supported the course each year, and the many participants that were lucky enough to play in a tournament at the course over the last few years. It has been an exceptional journey with a sad ending. I would be remiss to not thank the stakeholders at Colorado Heights University for allowing a course to be placed on an incredible piece of real estate. I would rather have experienced three plus years of disc golf on the property as opposed to none at all. Thank you CHU! This year has only seen two organized tournaments at CHU open to the public. The Ice Bowl and the PODS Finals were very successful events that showcased the beauty of playing disc golf at CHU. We will have one final opportunity to experience a competitive disc golf round at CHU. CHU will be the first stop of the Winter Warriors 2014-15 series. Come play CHU on Saturday, November the 1st and help raise money for the local food bank. Ray Woodruff and Jeff McCormack will be hosting this last opportunity to officially compete at CHU. Look for more details on the Mile High Disc Golf club website (mhdgc.org). I hope that all of the annual pass holders and their guests enjoy playing CHU over the next few months. Please continue to be respectful of the land, the buildings, and the folks on campus when playing disc golf at CHU. The course has provided a ton of memories to folks and it is my hope that new memories will be created between now and the end of the year that folks can remember for years to come.
