CIB – Media Relations – Latin America – VP – New York JPMorgan Chase - New York, NY - 140010378 Job Description This position will be part of the Corporate & Investment Bank’s global communications team. Global Corporate & Investment Bank (“CIB”) Communications supports the businesses revenue goals by developing innovative communications programs that identify, reach and engage clients, target clients, employees and entry-level talent. The Media Relations function protects and cultivates the firm’s strong external reputation and develops effective relationships between IB leaders and reporters. The VP in communications will manage media relations based in New York, working closely with internal communications functions for all the countries where J.P. Morgan has presence in Latin America, This is a critical function to support the continued growth in the region. Responsibilities Act as a key media relations contact for the CIB and Global Corporate Bank for the region Write media responses, briefing memos for senior executives, press research and press releases Respond to inquiries from television, print and electronic media on the company and its operations in the region Proactively place positive stores in the media about J.P. Morgan’s operations in Latin America, including notes on research, products and initiatives, including the differentiating views of our research analysts, strategists and economists covering the region Build relationships with reporters and television producers that cover topics and sectors relevant to our businesses in Latin America Support senior bank executives during interviews with the media Handle press coverage and media attendance at major investor conferences Qualifications The ideal candidate would have at least 7 years related work experience in communications. A background in financial services would be considered a strong asset but is not required. Excellent organizational skills Strong organizational and project management skills, combined with an ability to prioritize effectively while managing competing demands and high volume. E.g. Ability to multitask, prioritize and handle at once a large volume of media calls, email inquiries and diverse internal communications projects Superior verbal, written, and interpersonal skills both in English and Spanish. Portuguese is a plus Reliable, flexible, shows initiative and takes ownership. Strong judgment Ability to work independently as well as part of a team to ensure the needs of the group are met Proficient in Bloomberg, Microsoft Office, Factiva, Cision and Gorkana Bachelors Degree in, communications, public relations, journalism or related field Excellent written skills in English Ability to develop and maintain strong working relationship with the media at the local level across several Latin American countries as well as in NY with the media covering the region Available to travel frequently Excellent proven strategic planning, execution, and consulting skills A passion for detail and an ability to think creatively is critical, to help suggest strategy and raise creative ideas Ability to work collaboratively within a global tam and develop solid working partnerships with peers and colleagues Experience as a reporter/writer is a plus Work experience in the USA and Latin America is a plus JPMorgan Chase & Co. offers an exceptional benefits program and a highly competitive compensation package.
