CIS YOUTH REPRESENTATIVES VISIT MGIMO A visit by youth representatives from CIS nations political, public, scientific and business communities took place at MGIMO on September 23, under the aegis of the New Generation program promoted by the Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States, Compatriots Living Abroad and International Humanitarian Cooperation. The event marked the first such visit from CIS, with representatives from Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Ukraine. They were welcomed to MGIMO by vice rector for international cooperation and public relations Andrei Silantiev. He spoke to the visitors about the creation and history of MGIMO, its 70th birthday celebrations next year, the incorporation of the Bologna process at MGIMO and programs run at the university. The visitors were also shown a movie presentation about MGIMO. The group was also addressed by MGIMO’s Dean of the International Journalism School, Yaroslav Skvortsov, who spoke about the faculty and creative teaching. The ‘New Generation’ program of short-term fact-finding trips to the Russian Federation by political, public, scientific and business community youth representatives in CIS nations commenced in 2011. It was developed to deepen public, business and scientific relations between Russia and the CIS nations, to promote a more objective perception of Russia globally, as well as to expand to the number of young members of international states with a deeper understanding of Russia and the ties between Russia and their nations. mgimo.ru/news/university/document241723.phtml
