CITAD`S TRAINED KANO YOUTHS GET GOVERTNMENT SUPPORT The second batch of the CITAD`s Use of ICT for GSM Repairs beneficiaries yesterday got the support from the Kano state govt to set up business of GSM repairs across the state. The beneficiaries numbered 530 were trained in the month of July 2014 on the Use ICT for GSM repairs by CITAD in partnership with the Kano State Ministry of Commerce and Industry. In a colorful graduation ceremony held yesterday (04/09/2014) at the Kano State govt house, the state governor Rabiu Kwankwaso reiterated the commitment of his administration to partner with any organization (NGO and Private) in moving the state forward. He said, “The state govt decided to give facilities worth N27, 000 and N10, 000 cash to each of the beneficiaries as support to start the business of repairing GSM”. In his remark the Kano State Commissioner of Commerce and Industry, Prof. Faruk Jibril thanked CITAD for its usual support to the development of Kano state youths. He said July`s training was not the first because in the month of February, 2014 CITAD in partnership with the Ministry of Commerce trained 1000 Kano state youths on the Use of ICT in GSM repairs. While giving his Goodwill message, the emir of Kano, Malam Mohd Sunusi II called on the beneficiaries to make better use of the opportunity so that to rely on their own and even employ other youths to work under them. Also in his remarks, Kabiru Dakata who was the representative of the CITAD`s Executive Director, assured the state govt of the CITAD`s readiness to continue partnering with not only Ministry of Commerce but all other ministries on different empowerment programmes. Dakata said “As we all know, the development of ICT has come up with endless opportunities to tap from, we will therefore partner with any Ministry, Department and Agency to ensure better application of ICT for the development of Kano state and its people”.
