CITY OF NEWPORT POLICE OFFICER POSITION The City of Newport, Oregon is accepting applications for a Police Officer to perform law enforcement and crime prevention work. Requires ability to work without direct supervision in emergencies, and exercise considerable independent judgment and discretion. APPLICATIONS ARE BEING TAKEN FOR BOTH ENTRY LEVEL AND LATERAL OFFICERS. Entry level minimum qualifications include some higher education or vocational training specializing in law enforcement or closely related field; possession of, or ability to obtain, Oregon DPSST Certification within one (1) year; and a valid drivers license. Lateral hires require current Oregon DPSST certification, or certification in another state with the ability to obtain Oregon certification, and two years’ experience as a police officer assigned to field duties. (Oregon certification is preferred.) Salary range: $3718 to $5223 per month.
