CITY OF OXFORD PUBLIC NOTICE is hereby given by the Oxford Civil Service Board that an Examination for Police Officer will be given at the Oxford Civic Center on February 27, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. JOB REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma or GED, valid driver’s license and at least twenty-one years of age. Willing to attend 12-week Police Academy, 11-week Field Training Officer Program, undergo the physical agility exam, work non-standard hours and emergency call-backs, wear appropriate uniforms and safety equipment, and participate in continuing education activities to acquire and maintain credentials. Applicant is subject to a complete back-ground check. COMPLETION OF PHYSICAL AGILITY TEST IS NOW REQUIRED PRIOR TO THE WRITTEN TEST. Applicants will be notified of the date/time/place for their PT test. JOB SPECIFICATIONS: Knowledge of City of Oxford policies and procedures. Knowledge of Police Department policies and procedures, and rules and regulations. Computer skills. Provide police protection, answer calls regarding automobile accidents and criminal activity. Complete all required reports, gather required information, and speak clearly and factually for court appearances and other situations. Ability to deal tactfully with the public, discreet regarding confidential information and promote positive police-community relations. Perform other related duties as required that may not be specifically listed. WAGE: Starting salary $16.17 an hour.
