CITY OF ROSEVILLE PUBLIC LIBRARY EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY Title: Library Page Job Description: General purpose: A supervised position involving the performance of tasks as needed in order to circulate and maintain the library’s collection and keep office machinery in good working order. Hours: The position is part‐time, 16 hours per week working a variety of morning, afternoon, evening and, potentially, Saturday shifts, and does not include benefits. Monday 8:30‐12:30PM; Tuesday 8:30‐12:30PM; Wednesday 4:00‐8:00PM, Thursday 8:30‐12:30PM Reports to: Works under the direct supervision of the assistant director. Also works under the general supervision of the other librarians and library assistants as well as under the general supervision of the library director. Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Retrieve material from drop boxes. 2. Sort and shelve library materials in alphabetical and numerical order, according to library classification system. 3. Assist in general maintenance of library collections, display areas and appearance. 4. Shift materials when shelves are crowded. 5. Search and pull library materials for reports. 6. Clean and maintain office machines such as photocopiers, printers, fax machines and computers. 7. Perform routine support tasks. 8. Perform various housekeeping tasks such as dusting shelves and straightening library materials. 9. Retrieve supplies from the basement or other areas of the library. 10. Perform other duties as requested by a supervisor. Minimum qualifications: 1. Applicants must be 16 years or older. 2. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. 3. Ability to organize material alphabetically and numerically. 4. Ability to work independently in an efficient manner. 5. Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with co‐workers. 6. Ability to conduct oneself with tact and courtesy with members of the public. 7. Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing. Additional requirements: 1. Ability to stand, walk and bend for up to six hours. 2. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. 3. Ability to push book carts weighing up to 200 lbs. 4. Ability to bend and kneel in order to reach materials on lowest shelves. 5. Ability to reach overhead to shelve items weighing up to 5 lbs. 6. Basic computer knowledge including email.
