CITY OUTDOOR RINKS CLOSED: The warm weather over the past couple - TopicsExpress

CITY OUTDOOR RINKS CLOSED: The warm weather over the past couple weeks has taken its toll on city-maintained outdoor rink surfaces. “The mild weather has made skating conditions unsafe at these rinks,” says Barb Welander, Parks Operations Outdoor Rink Co-ordinator. “Most of these rinks are big pools of water and have very soft ice. The melting has also exposed big patches of asphalt”. City maintained outdoor rinks are located at: • Montrose Junior High School • Alexander Forbes SchoolSwanavon School • Hillside School • Crystal Park School • St. Kateri School • Harry Balfour School • Holy Cross School • I.V. Macklin School • JC Mackie Park “We realize that many people use city these rinks. Our crews will be back out flooding as soon as the weather turns cold,” says Welander. Ice surfaces must be built up again before being safe to skate on. The public is thanked for their cooperation to stay off the ice until further notice.
