CLAYDON FC U9’S (A) MATCH REPORT Claydon vs. Trimley – 1 November 2014 Claydon U9’s welcomed Trimley to the Blue Circle ground for a friendly fixture intent on blowing off the cobwebs following a weeks lay off. Management plans were to mix things up a bit and incorporate players from both Claydon under 9’s teams. The starting line up was James in goal, Josh at the back with Omarion, Makai and a debuting Kit in midfield with Harry and Owen up front. On the subs bench were Sam, Fabian, Alfie, Oliver and Tarique. The day saw one other debut as Stevie Gray agreed to referee under some coercion. The opening minutes saw both teams sounding each other out and Claydon establishing their crisp passing game. The first threat on goal came as Makai lobbed a Trimley player with a pass to Harry who performed a spectacular overhead pass to Owen who ran on and forced a save from the Trimley keeper. From this move on it appeared there would be plenty of time on the ball for Claydon to dominate play and dictate the pace of the game. The deadlock was broken shortly afterwards as Harry crossed the ball into the Trimley box from the left wing which picked up a big deflection and was ruled an own goal. Minutes later and Trimley struck back with a freekick from 15 yards out. James was blindsided and the shot found the back of the net for 1 – 1. Another Trimley attack shortly afterwards caught the Claydon defence napping and James was forced off his line to save well. The Claydon pressure was mounting and Trimley were struggling to clear their lines. The Claydon advantage was restored when Owen popped up in the box to score following a goal line scramble. Omarion, Kit and Josh made way for Sam Fabian and Oliver. The Claydon strangle hold was being established on the game. Makai’s deflected cross fell to Oliver who made no mistake to make the score 3 – 1. Oliver turned provider as he picked up on a loose ball in midfield. He played it forward to Owen who, still with plenty of work to do, tricked his way past 2 defenders to make the score 4 – 1. Just before half time Owen left the field for Tarique to make his debut. No more goals. Half time score: Claydon 4 – Trimley 1 The second half and AlfIe claimed his place back in goal. Sam and Josh reformed their defensive partnership. Fabian and Owen were in midfield with Omarion and Tarique leading the attack. Claydon were attacking downhill. Foundations were laid in the first half but pressure and dominance were clearly established in the second. Fabian picked up the ball just inside the half way line. Showing attacking strength and skill he beat 3 players before calmly side footing the ball past the Trimley keeper. Another Fabian thunderbolt was well saved by the keeper and Tarique was unlucky not to score the follow up. A handball inside the area saw Fabian step up to take the Claydon penalty. The shot was straight at the keeper who stood his ground well to deny the goal. The slope was having its effect and the attacking ethos was all Calydon’s. Sam joined the attacking play content to leave Josh and Alf at the back to nullify any Trimley attack. Omarion picked up the ball on the right hand side of play. The home fans had a fantastic view as his left foot strike gave the keeper no chance. A joy to watch!! Fabian netted his 2nd of the day and Claydon’s 7th with a shot from range which, again, left the keeper no chance. Fabian, keen to claim his hat trick, shot from distance. The shot went through a crowd of players. Harry possibly got a touch on the way. Was this Fabians hat trick or was it Harry’s goal? The dubious goals panel are still pondering the decision with the latter being the likely outcome!!! Makai picked up a loose ball inside the Trimley area and fired home to make the score 9 – 1 To mark his debut and round things off, a loose ball fell to Kit who had to wait for it to fall. The quality of the finish showed real promise as Claydon sealed a 10 – 1 victory. Reporters opinion: A good win in a match where time on the ball was plentiful. Beware, this is not always the case!! Man of the match: Joshua Maddams. (Did exactly what was asked of him) Referee: Stevie Gray. (Clearly needs more practise!!) Match Reporter: Simon Wood.
