CLUB LEVEL SOCIAL MEDIA One thing we as fans should all - TopicsExpress

CLUB LEVEL SOCIAL MEDIA One thing we as fans should all appreciate is that at club level Speedway, almost everybody involved with the club is a volunteer. From the President to the secretary, track curator to the cashier at the gate and to the flaggie at the start finish line. At club level there isnt many that get a dollar in their own pocket unless brought in from outside the club for a specific purpose such as managing a canteen, race night announcing & media interests or performing duties that there isnt a volunteer to do or can do. We should be mindful of this fact & sometimes even the most supportive of us forgets because of our passion for the sport & desire to have everything run perfect so we can show new people to the entertainment we love. One thing though that can be offered as constructive feedback is that many, in fact a great percentage of club level Speedways need to smarten up there use of social media & self promotion. By smarten up I mean there should be a consistent cycle of information being posted to the clubs website and Facebook/Twitter pages making the entertainment look semi professional to attract people along with their hard earned cash to spend. Announcements for sponsors and presentation of their logos & a spiel of what that sponsor offers not just once, but once every month of the season. Welcoming of new members by name, details of exciting feature events coming up, announcements of returning divisions & requests for help with things gat need to be done. Volunteer profiles if you wish and driver profiles a must. Fan surveys and questions and photos to reminisce about and discussion that allows fans to talk about history and great events or racers. A club elected secretary & public relations officer are the people most likely responsible for these duties, it should be something that happens at least a couple times weekly if not daily, that attracts fans to your information and eyes to see your sponsor’s details. Facebook pages should not be filled with advertisements for shoes & websites shouldnt not be broken or unused for months despite being volunteers, this does not help clubs attract sponsors to offer support to a club whom in their eyes cant manage the simple things required to promote themselves. Important people like local newspaper reporters, magazine editors & writers, competitors & fans travelling from distance & potential sponsors are following your social media & website, it needs to be used & it needs to be used right. If you don’t have the time to do it properly, then don’t do it at all - hire somebody to do it for you. Give them responsibility to post information, remove spam report break downs to the committee of the page or website. Be professional in what you display and how you display it, start today.
