CM Shehbaz Sharif Visits Tehsil Bhawana Chiniot to Review Arrangements for Distribution of Financial Assistance to Flood Affectees under the Second Phase Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that the second phase of payment of financial assistance to the flood affectees of 16 districts of the province under the historic package of 16 billion rupees is continuing speedily and in a transparent manner. He said that there is no other example in the history of Pakistan of payment of compensation to flood-hit people so speedily. He said that the promise to enable the flood-affected people to stand on their own feet has been fulfilled. He said that the elements staging sit-ins have shown worst apathy by leaving the flood affectees alone in the hour of need and they also hatched the conspiracy to get the visit of Chinese President and other international leaders postponed. He said that Imran Khan has tarnished the image of the country and he will never be forgiven by the nation. He was addressing a function regarding the second phase of payment of financial assistance to flood affectees in Tehsil Bhawana, Chiniot today. The Chief Minister said that the process of payment of financial assistance to the flood affectees for their losses is continuing speedily and in a transparent manner. He said that government will continue to support the flood-hit people until they are fully rehabilitated. He said that those staging sit-ins in Islamabad remained busy in musical shows and now Tahir ul Qadri is enjoying cool breezes of Canada while Imran Khan is telling lies on the container. He said that these elements paid no attention to resolving the problems of the distressed people while Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and he stood with them in the hour of need and set example of public service. Shahbaz Sharif said that flood affectees will never forget who supported them in the hour of trial and who remained busy in music shows. He said that the elements staging sit-ins gave preference to their personal interests and due to their negative politics the visit of the Chinese President was postponed. He said that these elements caused irreparable loss to economy while power projects were also delayed and the whole responsibility lies on Imran Khan and Tahir ul Qadri as the dream of agricultural and industrial development cannot be realized without energy. He said that recent flood was worst in history of the country but federal and Punjab government took unprecedented measures for rehabilitation of the calamity-hit people. He said that collective efforts of the federal government, armed forces and government departments for coping with the flood situation are commendable. The Chief Minister said that like the payment of first installment, he is also supervising the payment of second installment of financial assistance to the calamity-hit people and no deserving person will remain deprived of his right. He said that financial assistance is being distributed among flood affectees on the basis of transparent survey of damage to houses and crops. He said that compensation of 80 thousand rupees is being given for a totally destroyed house while Rs.40 thousand each for partially damaged houses. He said that the first installment at the rate of Rs.25 thousand each has already been given. He said that compensation for losses of crops at the rate of 10 thousand rupees per acre up to 12.5 acres land is being given while Rs.10 thousand each are being given to the flood affectees who have lost their means of livelihood. Shahbaz Sharif said that such a huge amount has never been given in such a short time to the affectees of any calamity in the history of the country. He said that credit goes to Punjab government which has not left flood hit people alone and the second installment of financial assistance of about 60 crore rupees is being given to 15 thousand flood affectees of Chiniot district. The Chief Minister visited the centre for the payment of financial assistance to the flood affected people in Bhawana and reviewed the arrangements. He also met the affectees and inquired about the arrangements who expressed their satisfaction. (admin)
