Chandrababu Naidu said people who develop/ design smart apps for smart villages will be and recognized and awarded. Stating that villages will be geo-tagged, the Chief Minister has suggested officials to encourage crowdsourcing in order to get updates from people on their villages. “We are exploring the possibility of distributing Android phones to NREGS field assistants and tablets to Village Officers for this purpose,” the Chief Minister said. That apart, the Chief Minister directed officials to updated information on indicators like health, literacy, drop-out rate, immunization and sanitation online. He added that NRIs, corporates, industrialists and VIPs visiting villages during Sankaranti festivals should make action plan for the respective villages and submit them to the government. “Depending on the plans submitted, a final plan for development of a smart village will be designed,” the CM said. The Chief Minister said that every official should work towards making this campaign a success. Deputy Chief Minister KE Krishna Murthy, Advisor (Communications) Dr. Parakala Prabhakar, Principal Secretary Satish Chandra, RWS Principal secretary Jawahar Reddy and other officials were present.
