CMM EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY MPIC Community Project Liaison The Confederacy of Mainland Mi’kmaq (The CMM) is a Tribal Council representing six Mi’kmaq communities of mainland Nova Scotia. Our mission is to proactively promote and assist Mi’kmaq communities’ initiatives towards self-determination and enhancement of community. The CMM is located in the Millbrook Mi’kmaw Community in Nova Scotia and has over 50 employees. The MPIC was formed under The Confederacy of Mainland Mi’kmaq to ensure the Mainland Mi’kmaq of Nova Scotia partake in securing partnerships and innovative routes to the workforce to increase their Socio-Economic status within the province through development of partnerships across the spectrum in Government, Industry and Community Development. Operating under the direction of the MPIC Program Manager, the Community Project Liaison will meet these Key Areas of Responsibility: • Support communities in managing their training programs. • Provide reports to the Project Manager. • Work directly with communities, training institutes and industry to help in the development projects that will lead to employment through education, training and/ or work experience. • Inventory of training needs of the Mi’kmaw communities. • Assist in the development of training programs and time lines based on community needs. • Identify supports for the communities for their clients such as tutorials. • Organize community information sessions for projects, presentations and information sessions. • Liaison between MPIC, community frontline workers, industry and training partners. • Assist in completing a working budget for each project based on community support and client needs. Position Requirements: • Post Secondary degree or certificate in Management, Economic Development, or Business Administration. • Experience in aboriginal training, employment and education. • Experience in training program development and administration. • Extensive knowledge of and experience in working with Mi’kmaw communities. • Knowledge of local economy, business leaders, community leaders, training organizations and government agencies. Salary/Employment Term: $40,400.00 per annum with the possibility of renewal April 1st, 2015.
