CNN HEROS...so inspiring! The only awards show that I watch every year! I was so delighted to see that Annette Marsh-Grier of Robertas Place, in my hometown, and old neighborhood in Baltimore received an award! Baltimore has the 4th highest rate of murder, in the country. She provided a safe and nurturing place for kids to create, let out their anger and fears! WTG! The visuals, including those in proximity to my old neighborhood were ....I cannot find the words.... When I was healthy enough to travel, I always visited the hood, where I grew up. Only Matteo was brave enough to get out of the taxi and go with me inside to the church where I grew up, taught Sunday School, and volunteered 6 days a week after school to bring those kids together, regardless of the varied colors of their skin. Then, we drove through my old neighborhood; where a blank slab of concrete is all that is left of the home where I grew up. The taxi drivers always locked the doors; notably fearful, and pretty confused by my request to drive down certain streets on my way to my moms house. Sometimes, it is good to review where you came from, be grateful for the blessing that followed... Yes, I think we should do an ART 4 GOOD auction in the near future to support Robertas Place! Im still so very proud of my hometown, and those who are MAKING A DIFFERENCE!
