CNN anchor Anderson Cooper appeared as a last-minute guest on “Late Show with David Letterman” on Tuesday and spent an entire segment talking about the devastation he had witnessed in Tacloban during his coverage of the aftermath of typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines last week. “It was among the worst I’ve seen, just the chaos on the ground,” Cooper told Letterman as he once again lamented the slow response of the Philippine government to the disaster. “Look, the Philippines is an amazing country, it’s a poor country, in a lot of the areas where the storm hit. Obviously, the government is not set up to provide relief in this kind of way. It was upsetting to the people there who were searching for their children not to have any assistance,” he said. Asked if such a traumatizing assignment would stop him from covering other disasters around the world, Cooper replied, “I honestly think it’s an honor to be there and to be able to give voice to people who don’t have a voice.” youtube/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=Xe2C4Thjsvw
