COASTGUARD PRESS RELEASE As a precautionary measure members of the public are advised that a “white lard like” material/substance has washed up on Port Erin main beach, some of the material/substance is round and stone like of golf ball size while other pieces are approximately one foot square and three or four inches deep. Until this material/substance can be analysed members of the public are advised to keep dogs on a lead and away from any material/substance of the sort described. Port Erin coastguard team have searched the beach after the high water on Saturday night removing quantities of the material/substance and will commence a further sweep at first light on Sunday morning. Coast guard enquiry number is 686628.
