COEASU:::: chat with STC chairman, comrade Alade oyindamola ArbicoNews- Good morning Dabuchie- Good morning my brother ArbicoNews- We already know your name but there are few students who simply know you as DABUCHIE,can you please tell us your full name? Dabuchie- Thank You So much; I remain my humble self; Com. Alade Oyindamola Ayanfe, popularly known as DABUSHIE, while some call me Damoshe, the Grand Commander of over 15,000 teaming Nigerian students, both seen and unseen entities, a student of Biology Dept, 400l. The STC Chairman ArbicoNews- For more than six months,Federal Colleges across the nation have been on strike, can you briefly tell us how this has affected you personally? Dabuchie- It has not affected me alone but has also affected the entire great Nigerian students as a whole. I’m not the only final year student or the only student in the colleges of education. It’s so painful the Federal Government and the COEASU never mind us being the third party in this issue. We are at the receiving ends, some of our students who ought to have forgotten they came to school even lost their lives in the course of the struggle, our leaders do not have any plan for us and they all want a better Nigeria in future. They are jeopardising the only opportunity we can afford to have a better tomorrow. It’s so painful they both cannot come together and resolve issues amicably, they are all fighting for their selfish interests, aspiring and speaking unrelevant grammars showing us they are in control, and they all want a better tomorrow, what are they teaching us in disguise? It’s so painful and it’s not a one man thing my brother, it encompasses all the Nigerian Students passing through these evil acts ArbicoNews- We heard you were one of the leaders that led peaceful protests that took place in Abuja,Akure and Lagos,do you think students should engage in more peaceful protests? Dabuchie- Thank you so much Mr Journalist; The aftermath of this peaceful protest will look real at first. When we met with the Hon. Minister for Labour and Productivity (Chief Wogu) in Abuja during a peaceful picketing at the Federal Secretariat, he promised heaven and earth, he even told us Mr President is aware of our presence at the moment and that they will all look into the issue critically and give us positive and immediate response, but to our disappointing surprise, all our efforts got wasted. We suffered and waited for the response but all to no avail. The second protest was that of Lagos, where Governor Babatunde Fashola attended to we senators from different Colleges and Polythecnics. He also promised to make immediate moves, but no positive response came out of it. The ASUP and COEASU then led their team to do the same in Abuja but the security operatives dispersed them with hot water and tear gas. This shows how horrible our country is, even when we are suffering from our rights, we should all learn to keep quiet, I don’t see reasons why the security operatives will harm the Nigerian Students from agitating for their rights, the last protest that happened in Lagos took the lives of some students while over 20 students were apprhendened by the security operatives. They suffered for days and was bailed out with huge amount of money by their parents after writing undertakings not to do so again. This is uncalled for in a democratic country like Nigeria. I don’t think going for another protest will solve anything in this case, all I can say is that the COEASU should have a re-think and let us go back to our classes, the timing is very wrong and it’s obvious. I can’t waste the lives of the Nigerian students by organising a protest in which the police will come shooting sporadically while they know we are not boko haram members, they won’t go to sambiasa forest and tackle Abubahkah Shekrau but they can only flex their muscles on we the innocents students. ArbicoNews- Do you think the strike is also affecting the FG and lecturers? Dabuchie- The lecturers are damn tired of the strike too since the policy is now NO WORK, NO PAY. Everybody is worried because there is hunger in the land, it has affected the entire school community and now everybody including the market women are aggitating seriously for our resumption, it’s painful we have limited power over the so called strike. We pray within the next few weeks, the Federal Government will see into this and call it off. The COEASU And ASUP are in the stage of submitting some vital documents and I believe something positive will come out of it. We can only hope. ArbicoNews- What are the Student Union leaders across colleges in Nigeria planning to do next on this issue? Dabushie- There is going to be a Unity NANS Convention in the next 2weeks, and myself being the Senate President of National Association Of Colleges Of Education Students in Nigeria (NACES). This is going to be one of the germane issues to be discussed at the level of the Convention. We will all discuss the issues critically and profer a reasonable way forward, that I can promise. Myself and the newly elected President ( Isiaka Kamarudeen) will be there together and any other interested students, it’s an open thing. ArbicoNews- Any message for ACE students(Arbicans) ? Dabushie- My advice to the Great Arbicans is to keep calm as usual. Let’s pray that all our moves work out as planned, it’s so unfortunate this is happening to us all at this material time, we are putting in our best but it seems our efforts is been diluted by the power from above, but with time, positive result will crop up and we will all get back to our classes. ArbicoNews- Thank you very much for you time Comrade Dabushie- The pleasure is mine.........#iwamubode
