COLD WEATHER NOTICE Dear Resident: Winter is here and the weather service will predict dangerously low temperatures during the coming days. To help prevent pipe freezes and the potential flooding of your apartment home, we ask that you please take the following steps whenever the temperatures are forecast to dip to an unusually low level: 1) Please make certain that you open all water faucets in your apartment to allow a very thin trickle of water to flow through the water lines (both hot and cold). Allow the trickle of water to continue to flow throughout the night. (If you are leaving town, please do not leave the water on.) 2) If you plan to be out of town or away form your apartment home for more than 48 hours, please notify the office so your apartment can be checked periodically for frozen or burst pipes. Leave all drains open, and do not leave anything in the sinks, (i.e. kitchen utensils, dishes, items of clothing, dish rags, etc.) as such items may cause drains to become clogged and possibly cause flooding of your home. 3) Leave all cabinet doors underneath sinks and lavatories open so the water pipes will remain ventilated with warm air. 4) When not at home, leave bathroom doors open. 5) Please notify the office immediately if you turn on a faucet and no water comes out. This may indicate pipes have already frozen in your building. Be sure to turn the faucet back off. We also ask that you notify the office if you see water leaking from the foundation of any building, which could mean a leak in an unoccupied apartment. 6) Leave the heat turned to Auto and thermostat set at no less than 60 degrees, especially if you will be gone for more than 24 hours. Your cooperation will be appreciated very much. In the event of a pipe break or leak, please call the management office immediately. We will respond to your request as soon as possible.
