COLLECTING YOUR DOG. When collecting your dog make sure you have 1)A slip lead not an ordinary collar. 2)A harness so you can double this up with the slip lead 3)A cage,as the staff on board will carry your dog to your car and put them in it(You must not walk your dog in the car park) For the first 14 days it is advised that even when in the garden you walk your dog on the slip lead. DONT answer the door to people until you know you have safely closed them in another room or they are in there cage. These dogs will not look at you after a couple of days and think ow I will stay here they appear ok !! Most of these dogs lives they have only ever know us humans as people that hurt them. They have only known to run from the dog catcher. They have never heard a hover,washing machine,hair drier so all these notices can make them run(bolt) You may think your garden is secure but like us if we are afraid we will get out of anywhere. It is not like bringing a puppy home that has been raised in a house. I have experienced collecting two dogs from the airport that had come over from Cyprus and taken them to there new homes , the following day I received a phone call from the one. Lady that she had answered the door to the post man and the poor baby bolted out on to the main road,that was one of the worse days of my life watching a poor baby dodging traffic,5hrs later the dog was found exhausted,with bleeding pads from running and running. Someone started walking there dog when they had just collected it off the transport,it ran on the motor way and was killed. Only this week there has been a rescue dog that after a few days bolted and was found dead on the railway lines. PLEASE KEEP YOUR DOG SAFE,THEY HAVE ALREADY BEEN THROUGH ENOUGH. Every dog I have brought over has always been so full of love but I have always kept to these golden rules !!!
