COLLEGE STUDENT OPPORTUNITY: The Klamath Basin Tribal Youth - TopicsExpress

COLLEGE STUDENT OPPORTUNITY: The Klamath Basin Tribal Youth Program is actively seeking applications from students interested in evaluating western science and Traditional Ecological Knowledge in relationship to Climate Change within the Klamath Basin. The paid Internship is 8-10 weeks in late June to late August 2014. Students will receive a stipend and a laptop computer. Lodging will be provided. Students will be responsible for their own meals and incidentals. Six interns will work closely with scientists, natural resource professionals and restoration practitioners in a systematic process evaluating western science and traditional ecological knowledge to better understand the impacts of climate change on ecological and traditionally important attributes. This discovery could result in more collaborative tribal and government approaches to climate change adaptation and planning conducted in the Klamath Basin. The deadline to submit the attached interest form has been extended to Friday, April 25. For additional information, please contact me or Klamath Basin Tribal Youth Program Coordinator Trevor Super at 530-841-3121 or email at [email protected] As of Friday, April 18, the program had received far fewer applicants than it had hoped to receive. Please help spread the word about this great opportunity for tribal youth who are college students majoring in math, engineering, natural resources, applied technology and science fields.
