COLONISATION: When a dominant ambitious nation slowly and determinedly moves into a more vulnerable one (ie militarily weaker or with a much smaller population, calling it a friend as it is the 21st century) and buys up huge slabs of the prime land, asserts itself as the dominant migrant intake group while completely ignoring the rights of indigenous peoples, establishes dominant businesses, banks and resource extraction deals, buys water sources, and proliferates and promotes their own culture without permission. The next step is to compete with established allies, spread its own history, or its own version of history, enrol support for its obsessions by buying loyalty, offering bribes and charming, and proliferating the dominant colonising language as a second language in schools.
