COLORED - Kirsty Winkler In my world of black and white I searched in vain for something bright to light my world; shine on my path and save me from the aftermath. But there was no gold, no rainbow pot to add the color my eyes forgot so I closed them to avoid the sight of the everlasting black and white. Then something happened, inside my mind that took away the color-blind it caught me somewhat by surprise as the color bloomed beneath my eyes. The red of blood pumped through my veins and awoke new life in my remains astonished; open flew my eyes as the colors spread from my demise. I watched as my flesh grew warm the color on my skin take form the grass beneath my feet turn green down to the brown of ground between. The colors that unfurled from me painted sun and sky, earth and sea in wonder, I watched it all unfold as the colors of my world took hold. Now I know; that I create my thoughts determining my fate to keep my colors fresh and new I’ll imagine my own worldview.
