COMCAST ANNOUNCES FREE INTERNET SERVICE TO PBC LOW-INCOME STUDENTS IN the School District of Palm Beach County!! Comcast Executive Vice President David L. Cohen announced that Comcast has extended Internet Essentials indefinitely – beyond its initial three-year commitment. Internet Essentials is Comcast’s acclaimed national broadband adoption program that provides affordable Internet service, discounted computers, and free digital literacy training for low-income families. In just two and half years, we’ve connected more than 1.2 million low-income Americans or 300,000 families.Also announced were 15 “Gold Medal” communities nationwide who are leading the way in connecting families to home broadband through Internet Essentials. Four of the Gold Medal communities are in Florida - including the School District of Palm Beach County! To show Comcast’s appreciation for your commitment to closing the digital divide, Internet Essentials-eligible families in Palm Beach County, who are not currently customers, can receive six months of complimentary Internet service if they apply for the program by March 18th. In order to ensure as many eligible families as possible take advantage of this offer, we ask that you please share the attached handouts and help spread the word. In addition, Comcast is providing more than $1 million in grants to dozens of non-profit organizations across the country, including partners in Palm Beach County, to create Internet Essentials Learning Zones that will bring together the non-profit community, schools, and Comcast to create a continuum of Internet connectivity during the day, after school, and at home.
