COMFORT SONGS, FINAL DAY (Song 1) Well, OK, OK...I skipped a few days along the way this month! Happily, theres a lot going on. And although I could have pre-dated/posted these UYD posts, I prefer to share them based on my daily reflections and state. So today, the final 3 from my time-tested Comfort Songs list. Thanks for your suggestions, as well! Youll probably continue seeing cozy-inducing tunes through the winter. Hugs from the cold Northern Hemisphere! Pick up your crazy heart, and give it one more try. Ryan Bingham: The Weary Kind * * * My DECEMBER YOGA CLASS FOCUS is COMFORT. It just seems...well...necessary. Typical winter/holiday dichotomies are tugging our energy (should I enjoy solitude/hibernation/natures womb, or, should I join the party/socializing/shopping craze?), daylight is waning and nights are longer, socio-political events are sparking a fire like no other winter I can recall from my 49 years on this planet, and, maybe there is some personal sadness, too... Winter can feel like a dark, dark time... (...and, oh my gosh - its not even officially winter yet!) So, I rely on my practice, I look to the growing glow of a soon-to-be Full Moon (editors note later in the month: and now, I embrace the opportunity for observing my shadows under the approaching New Moon), I enjoy houses holiday lights, I stay connected to a warm circle of friends...and, I lean on comforting music. Here are my fave songs that that bring warmth, light and love into this season. (There are 18 - one to post on each day until Winter Solstice, which is the shortest day of the year and marks the return of light). Please ADD YOUR COMFORT SONGS in the comments! OM Shanti.
