COMFORTABLE CAMPING IN UTAH’S STATE PARKS Salt Lake City – Many Utah state parks offer camping experiences in yurts and cabins with some comforts of home. Spend a night in the Elk Horn or Black Tail cabins or the Hogs Back or Devil’s Gate yurts. Log cabins are available at East Canyon, Green River, Hyrum, Jordanelle, Palisade, Starvation, Steinaker, Wasatch and Yuba state parks. Cabins sleep between six and eight people and are furnished with two log-style bunk beds, table and chairs, power, heat, air conditioner, microwave and refrigerator. Each cabin also offers a picnic table, barbecue grill, shared water tap and reserved parking. Costs range from $40 to $65 per night depending on the season. Yurts are available at East Canyon, Goblin Valley and Rockport state parks. All yurts have wooden lattice walls and ceilings, wooden floors, indoor lighting, and adjustable dome skylights. Three large windows keep the ultra-modern tents cool during summer, while insulated walls and thermostat-controlled electric stoves keep them warm in winter. Cost is $60 per night. To reserve a yurt or cabin, visit stateparks.utah.gov or call 801-322-3770.
