COMIC RELIEF GRANTS - comicrelief Comic Relief is a major charity based in the UK which strives to create a just world free from poverty – and we work 365 days a year to help that vision become a reality. Our mission is to drive positive change through the power of entertainment. Since we first set up shop in 1985, we’ve been doing three main things… • We raise millions of pounds through two big fundraising campaigns – Red Nose Day and Sport Relief. • We spend that money in the best possible way to tackle the root causes of poverty and social injustice. • We use the power of our brand to raise awareness of the issues that we care most about. Comic Relief launched a new grants making strategy in September 2013. Our UK and International grant making strategy is based on five themes: • Better Futures • Healthier Finances • Safer Lives • Stronger Communities • Fairer Society In the UK, Comic Relief supports work that aims to achieve at least one of the five themes by supporting organisations with the people, ideas and ability to tackle complex problems and create positive social change. Each theme has specific outcomes which applicants must address through their proposal. We are committed to sport as an approach and we welcome applications that use sport towards any of the themes. Our international grants seek to achieve a range of additional goals which we believe are crucial to creating a just world free from poverty. Most of our funding is for Sub-Saharan Africa and funding for work outside Africa is by invitation only. There are no funding deadlines for the UK programme and applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
