Blood Will Freeze by Tony-Paul de Vissage It was in the year 2012 that an asteroid struck the center of what was at that time the United States, impacting with such speed it burrowed miles beneath the Earth’s surface. The aftershocks of its collision completely obliterated Kansas, Nebraska, Missouri, and nearly half of the Dakotas, Colorado, and Wyoming. Mount Rushmore crumbled under the onslaught of the ensuing quakes. The Grand Canyon filled with rubble, Chimney Rock became a blunt-topped butte, and the Pacific Coast Highway slid into the ocean as the entire planet was rapidly enveloped in an eternal deep-freeze. The explosions resurrected a very different and unexpected threat. Deep within the earth, relics of a distant past, thought to be fictional but startlingly real, were jolted into sentience once more. The Undead had long ago gone to ground rather than allow themselves continued persecution and destruction. The force of the falling rock’s impact expelled them from their coffins, flinging them to the surface and into a world more to their liking. Within a short time, the new conquerors were herding the remaining humans together for their own survival as well as to be their captors’ sustenance...
