COMING SOON THE FILMSCENE ‘CRISIS WHAT CRISIS!’ Part 4 of the film ‘Hard to become who you are’ (2014) The youth of today in Europe and the Arab world is victim of the Crisis. What’s their perspective to find a job, a study, a house, a future? In the film five young people are visiting Amsterdam to know who they are and to take part in ‘The Global Tweet Revolution’ at the Dam Square. They are playing different roles such as the hedonist Monique from the Netherlands, the religious Muslima Iqbal from Syria, the aesthetical Irina from Italy, the protestor Hakan from Turkey and the avatar Sandis from Latvia. Amsterdam is the place to be because four hundred years the capitalist liberal economic system started in the Golden Age. They meet a banker as the master of the universe at the Stock Exchange who’s pretending that the crisis is over. After they lay a crown of flowers at the Monument of the Dam for Stéphane Hessel. Suddenly the Global Tweet Revolution starts and simultaneously at other squares in the world. They decide to hijack the VOC-ship from the banker, his spindoctor and his new girlfriend Monique. Finally the banker escapes to his office to rule the waves and the female actresses take over the wheel. They baptize the ship into ‘THE EMPATHY’ and sail to Cairo. . The aim of the film is to give emotional knowledge to young people from 16 till 30 years to develop an own identity and to find their own way out of the crisis. It’s about looking through the eyes of other. That’s why they have to gather information, music, images and feelings. Shortly after the making of the film in Amsterdam riots and demonstrations occurred in Stockholm, Frankfurt and Istanbul: ‘Real life learning’. What’s in it for you? • Use the film and the didactical booklet ‘Crisis what crisis!’ (September 2013) as a sense opener, a source of knowledge, a way of communication and reflection in modules about history, economy, philosophy, sociology, psychology and aesthetics. • Invite Wim Kratsborn as the director of To-Gather and the film to give a lecture, a performance (music and dance) and workshop (duration: one day). It’s an option to also invite one or two actors and/or the dancer Margarita Kamjaka.and Jeffrey Hoofs. • Integrate the theme ‘Crisis and the youth of today’ in your curriculum Drs.
