COMING TO TERMS WITH A LIFE YOU DID NOT PLAN. Yes chronic illness - TopicsExpress

COMING TO TERMS WITH A LIFE YOU DID NOT PLAN. Yes chronic illness means loss, loss of so many things, but its vital that we do not become defined by our illness and what we cant, and can no longer do. Acceptance is not easy, and not fighting the illness is not giving up, its making the best of a bad deal. However bad a hand we have been dealt, we can, with skill, still win, still beat this. Living constructively, with a positive attitude if possible, we can still have a reasonably good life despite our illness, or most people can. Coming to terms with a chronic illness like M.E. / CFS is a trying process that takes a lot of time, energy and effort. Its a journey that can take you through a range of emotions including loss, grief, anger, frustration, ( and relief at finally knowing at last what is wrong). Many people with this illness say things got better once they stopped fighting the illness, and that was certainly the case for me. Remember giving into the illness is not giving up, this is one illness you have to give into in order to get better. And once you know your limits, you can make the most of what you can do without making yourself more ill. It is hard, life can be cruel at times, but time is a great healer. If you possibly can, Stay strong, stay safe, stay brave, stay courageous, stay positive, and keep smiling.
