COMMISSION WOULD ACCEPT NOTHING LESS THAN THE BEST BY PROF. OKO The Resident Electoral Commissioner for Imo state, Professor Selina Oko, has urged staff of the Commission to be mindful of their social contract with the electorate by ensuring that efficient and prompt electoral services were delivered to Nigerians. Declaring open, a two-day workshop on Electoral Service Delivery in Owerri, Professor Oko stated that the training was one of the capacity building workshops packaged by the Commission to ensure that international best practices were achieved in Nigeria’s electoral process. She reminded the staff that as an umpire, it should provide a level-playing ground to all participants, adding that the Commission would accept nothing less than the best from its staff at all times. The Commissioner advised participants to avail them-selves of the capacity building workshop, adding that INEC was leaving no stone unturned in the area of improving service delivery. In his remarks, the Administrative Secretary, Chief Obi Brown Oluocha, advised participants to take the workshop seriously as it was one of the conscious efforts geared towards successful elections in 2015. Chief Oluocha charged the staff to always be guided by the principles and vision of INEC, while assuring them of the Commissioner’s readiness to motivate honest and dedicated staff. The workshop held at the Lobic Meridian Hotel, Owerri covered Electoral Services, Problems, Chal-lenges, Solutions and Pros-pects of Quality Service. Participants at the workshop which was facilitated by Mr. Ifeanyi Aguoha and Mrs Grace Onuche of the training department, had all the heads of division, heads of units and all the electoral officers in attendance.
