COMMITTEE ON CIVIL LIBERTIES, JUSTICE AND HOME AFFAIRS I (LIBE I): THE OVERVIEW VIDEO There is a nearly universal ratification by EU Member States of the 1954 Statelessness Convention relating to the status of stateless persons (Estonia, Cyprus, Malta and Poland are yet to sign it). Despite this, there remain an estimated 700,000 stateless persons living in Europe today. Only a handful of European States have functioning statelessness determination procedures in place, thus implementing their obligations. What steps should the EU take to improve the protection of stateless persons in Europe? An overview video is meant to complement the overview prepared for the delegates by the Chairs. It gives a brief summation of this longer overview in a new, fun and interesting way. We hope they will be very helpful for the delegates of this session when preparing for Committee Work and that it will be interesting and enlightening for everyone else too! This fifth overview video treats the committee topic of LIBE I. It is incredible, helpful and informative. Watch this video for a most wonderful and thought provoking motion picture experience.
