COMMONWEALTH GAMES - The Queen officially opened the Commonwealth Games last night at a spectacular ceremony in front of a 40,000-strong crowd and an estimated global TV audience of 1.5 billion. Tartan-clad performers, spinning oversized Tunnock’s tea cakes and a giant kilt were among the highlights, as thousands of athletes from 71 nations and territories took park. Torchwood actor John Barrowman sparked a Twitter storm within minutes after he kissed a man waiting at the aisle for him, in a stunt that appeared to support gay marriage.
