COMMUNITY UPDATE U-HELP FUNDING FIRST AID FOR SELF-DEFENCE PERSONNEL More than 50 IFAKs (Improved First Aid Kits for the use of Ukraine’s self-defence personnel) have now been funded by U-HELP - the AFUO’s Ukrainian Humanitarian Educational and Leadership Program. Last week, U-HELP received a generous $5000 donation from the Australian-Ukrainian Freedom League’s Sydney Branch. The League’s Branch President Mr Yuri Mencinsky said: “The announced two-pronged humanitarian assistance programme of U- HELP is necessary and timely. The Australian-Ukrainian Freedom League is proud to contribute $5,000 immediately to the first phase of that structured programme to fund field training of service personnel to treat combat-related injuries with appropriate medical equipment, as well as field ambulances and trauma care.” Mr Stefan Romaniw OAM, President of the AFUO, said: “Our community members and organisations want to make a difference, including helping those who are injured through the right medical equipment. I congratulate the Sydney Branch of the Australian-Ukrainian Freedom League and its Executive League its on true leadership in this effort and call on all our member organisations and community members to follow this important example.” Each IFAK – which can save the life of an injured self-defence member - includes: • Combat Application Tourniquet (CAT) • Nasopharyngeal airway tube • Halo Chest Seal • Wound dressing (aka Israeli bandage) • QuickClot combat gauze • 14 gauge needle decompression device (for tension pneumothorax) • Emergency medical shears U-HELP can be donated to through: BSB: 704 235 ACCOUNT: 00015958 REFERENCE: U-HELP
