COMPELLING GRACE God is not an uncertain God. He is purposeful and very intentional, constantly confronting our complacency, weak faith, independence and misplaced love. The corrosion of the world and the misplaced passions of our old nature dim the radiant brilliance of our Lord’s indwelling life. God’s grace compels us with difficulties to compel us to Him: “Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you; but rejoice ... Count it all Joy ... that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.” Adversity has a purpose: That you may be spiritually mature and complete, lacking no virtues or fruit of the Holy Spirit.
