COMPETE DONT COMPARE For we dare not make ourselves of the number, or compare ourselves with some that commend themselves: but they measuring themselves by themselves, and comparing themselves among themselves, are not wise. 2 Corinthians 10: 12 Comparison is evil and distractive, while competition is good when the rules are adhered to. Competition produces a lot of great values in us such as kindness, patience, endurance, love, ability to handle defeat and success alike and many more. Paul in Philipians 4:12 said he has learned to live both in plenty and lack. We enter into comparison when competition becomes unhealthy. So then the simplest way to define comparison is unhealthy competition. Have you ever taken time to ask yourself why even in nursery school we are made to compete? Two principles I strongly believe guides success is If you cannot be genuinely happy for your brothers success you have no business being successful and the success of another does not prevent you from being successful. You must loose sometimes in order to congratulate others then when you win others will also congratulate you. You never know how exciting it feels to win until you have tasted loosing. Never forget the best and only person you can compete with is yourself, that explains why you will be disqualified when you step into the track of the next athlete. Our race is set before us and not by our side. When you run the race that is before you that is competition. 1 Corinthians 9:24 run that you may obtain. When you begin looking to your sides and asking who else is running with you, you can be greatly distracted one major danger of comparison. Imagine running with Usain Bolt, am certain you will not want to start in the first place. But ask yourself do those that compete with him ever say same because he is in the race, no! They see running with him a privilege and an opportunity to enhance their potential and also probably make news if they should beat Bolt. Before Bolt came on the scene was a man called Tyson Gay. He won all the 100m finals until Bolt emerged but he still competes with Bolt. Go out today and live that one life your Master and Maker has entrusted into your hands to the fullest looking unto Christ the author and finisher of your faith that you may excel at all you do and give glory to His Holy name. Prayer: Father, grant me grace to focus on the race youve set before me in Jesus mighty name #metamorphosis
