COMT… VDR…MTHFR…Their SNPs are not all alike It matters - TopicsExpress

COMT… VDR…MTHFR…Their SNPs are not all alike It matters specifically which SNPs you have. Some Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms [SNPs] speed up enzymes and others slow them down. The various VDR snps do not affect biochemistry the same way. VDR Taq interferes with the making of Dopamine and the transcription of many enzymes especially those involved in activating enzymes for immune function. VDR Bsm affects the generation of too much active Vitamin D1,25. VDR Fok is associated with adverse management of sugar, metabolic syndrome and Diabetes. Some COMT snps are more problematic than others especially: COMT V158M COMT H62H MTHFR C677T is considered the worst of the bunch, but MTHFR A1298C when combined with MTHFR C677T is just as bad as two MTHFR C677T [+/+]. And, MTHFR A1298C apparently affects the Folate Pathways much more than the Methylation Pathway.
