CONDUCT OF WAR AND ETHICS : PRINCIPLES, STRATEGY, PRISONERS OF WAR, REASONS AND STATUS OF MARTYRS (SHAHEEDS) ~ SURAH MUHAMMAD, AL’QATAL (THE FIGHTING) 47 (95) : 4 > “So, when (you) Laqayatmu’ - Meet in Qa’tal (fighting, self defence) those who disbelieve (enemies), Fa’zaribu’ – Strike at Al’raqab’- Their Necks (separate the head - brain, at communication / strategic headquarters to remove the head / command centers, lines of communication, so that the under command forces disrupt, confuse, amok), At length (till) when Askhanumuhum’ – You have Killed and Wounded many of them, Fashadu’- Then Bind the Bond Firmly (take them as prisoners of war, captives), Therefore, (is the time) either for generosity (free them without ransom), or Ransom, until Al’harib’ – War lays down its burden (after cease fire, end of hostilities), Thus You are (commanded) to fight, But if it had been ALLAH’s Will – HE Himself could certainly have punished them (enemies - without your help), But (HE lets you to fight) in order to Layublu’- Test some of you with others (who is best – more faithful), Those who Qa’talu’ – Are Killed (martyrs, shaheed) in the Sabil’- Way (cause) of ALLAH, HE will never let their deeds (sacrifice) be lost”.
