CONGRATULATIONS, Dr. Jorge Carreon -- the Mission Doctors Association’s 2014 Catholic Doctor of the Year! Dr. Carreon is an OB/GYN who has served on the St. Francis medical staff since 1980. He is a highly respected physician who is actively involved in the Latino community. Education, immigration, and healthy pregnancies for Latino women have been his priority throughout his career. Over the last 35 years, he has delivered more than 18,000 children, including two generations within families. He feels blessed to have seen many of these children become doctors, lawyers, and nurses and lead fulfilled lives in these and many other rewarding fields and vocations. Dr. Carreon says that faith, hope, compassion, tolerance, and knowledge are the keys for him personally and professionally to do his best, and they serve as the core of his happiness with family, friends, and himself. As a physician and man of faith, he has steadfastly served the community, his profession, and the church. He has held positions on medical quality boards, bringing forward thinking and quality initiatives to hospitals across the state and to St. Francis Medical Center. Helping people is what gives him the greatest satisfaction. It is for these reasons and more that Dr. Carreon is this year’s Catholic Doctor of the Year! All Associates, Physicians, and Community Members are invited to the White Mass Celebration where Dr. Carreon will be honored.
